Bio
Jessica Drenk was raised in Montana, where she developed an appreciation for the natural world that remains an important inspiration to her artwork today. As a child, she was also highly influenced by the nearby Museum of the Rockies, a place which cultivated her interest in paleontology, archaeology, history, and museums. These interests have become crucial to her artwork as she develops her own museums of the present.
In 2006, Drenk was awarded the prestigious International Sculpture Center's Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Award. Her work has been pictured in Sculpture Magazine and seen in shows at the International Grounds for Sculpture in New Jersey, the Albuquerque Museum, the Tucson Museum of Art, and the International Book Fair of Contemporary Creative Books in Marseilles, France.
Drenk majored in art as an undergraduate at Pomona College, an academically rigorous liberal arts institution in California, graduating Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. While earning her Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Arizona, she was given the Centennial Sculpture Award and commissioned for a public work on campus.
Drenk currently lives and works in Tucson, Arizona.
